July is Disability Pride Month, a month when everyone should reflect on how inaccessible the world is for the disabled community. This month, I'm doing a big push to increase accessibility to my website, business and perfumes as a whole! You might have noticed the survey on the front page of my website. I hope that I get some feedback on how my products and website could be more accessible.
Here are some accessibility hurdles I've identified myself:
- Perfume caps are hard to remove for people with limb differences or weakness/pain in their hands.
- Perfume sprayer nozzles are also difficult to operate for people with limb differences or weakness/pain in their hands.
- Perfumes can cause overstimulation and headaches for certain populations.
- Perfumes can cause skin discomfort for people with sensitivity to dryness.
- Alternative text isn't available for some portions of my website at the moment.
- Some people cannot read my labels using text to speech software due to the stylized nature of it.
- The boxes I ship and package my perfumes in can be difficult to open for people with limb differences or weakness/pain in their hands.
